Contribution

Rownd CNC Lathe Project is an entrepreneurial venture I co-founded. I personally handled all industrial design and other design aspects of the project. After extensive development, the project launched on Kickstarter and successfully raised $636,000 in backing.

Rownd Lathe is a compact CNC lathe designed to shape materials like wood, aluminum, and plastic with ease. Its user-friendly interface and software allow users to create custom designs or access the extensive open-source Rownd Library for pre-made options.

The lathe features a large 7" touch screen that displays essential machine information, such as usage time, rotation speed, and feed rate. This screen also serves as a hub for selecting CAD data and initiating machining tasks without a separate computer. Additionally, manual processing is available through simple menus and on-screen buttons.

Rownd Lathe’s functionality extends beyond the machine, with full access via web or mobile applications. One of the standout features of Rownd is its remarkable compatibility with gamepads. By integrating gamepad support, the lathe enables users to experience a smooth and safe machining process, minimizing the risk of injury and ensuring a more enjoyable user experience.

The Rownd CNC Lathe bed is made of high-grade aluminum. Equipped with steel gears, this lathe machine is wear-resistant, sturdy, more accurate in rotation, and professional.

With an 800W spindle motor and four step motors, the lathe offers a variable speed range from 0-3000 RPM. The LED screen displays speed accurately, with spindle accuracy ranging from 0.0004" to 0.0012" (0.01-0.03 mm).

The Rownd Lathe is designed with user convenience in mind, featuring a spacious 7" touchscreen display. This intuitive interface provides users with comprehensive machine-related data, including usage time, rotation speed, feed rate, and more. With the touch screen, users can effortlessly select CAD data from the library and initiate machine operations without the need for external computer connections
